Melissa Salomón remembers hearing gunshots in the rough Los Angeles area neighborhood where she spent her teenage years. Despite her fears, she wondered how she could help? After earning a degree from Loyola Law School, Melissa dove into border ministry, working tenaciously to fulfill her calling to serve others. She established One Thousand Generations, a ministry in Tijuana, Mexico, that shares the word of the Lord and offers support to community members. Her decades-long involvement in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) touched the lives of thousands of women, perhaps most notably through Heart to Heart Sisters, a program that prepares multicultural women to become leaders within the Lutheran church.
